Interview with Ali Sir

1.Tell us sir, how has your journey as part of the DPS  family been so far?
It has been a good journey till now…not smooth but definitely a good one. It has been a pleasure working with the faculty, who have been so cooperative and friendly, as well as the students. The 5 years I have spent here holds my most cherished memories.

2. What gives you your perfectionist attitude?
I believe that there is no limit for perfection. If you have achieved the goal you have set for yourself, set new goals. This is what improves us as human beings.

3. What do you think makes DPS different from the other schools in the U.A.E?
DPS has become like a family to me during the time I’ve spent here. What differentiates DPS form other schools is that we strive to achieve, to improve ourselves in everyway possible. Also, we believe in giving our students exposure to all kinds of different activities.

4. Describe your experience working with the school Basketball team?
I am very happy working with our team. But, as I reiterate, there is always room for improvement, not only for the team but also for me. Perfection may be a high bar to reach and maintain but we will get there gradually, one step at a time. It has been a learning process for all of us, me and the team.

5. how did you manage to create a dream team out of almost nothing?
This is all due to the hard work of the children as well as their parent’s cooperation. Their strong desire to reach the top is also a reason for our success. But reaching the top is not the difficult part, maintaining that position is.

6. Who is your role model?
I don’t have anyone in particular as my role model as I believe that you should learn something from everyone as everyone has a quality that should be incorporated into our personality.

7. how would you rate the discipline in school?
The discipline here has improved tremendously over the years but, as I said, there is always room for improvement.

8. What is the most important advice you give your team before a match?
I tell them to do their best and to value success over victory because even if they don’t win, if they are successful in reaching the target they set for themselves, they are winners.

9. Do you see the DPS team winning nationals this year?
We have to have two very important things on our side to win the Nationals- a good team and luck. We have the former, while we can hope for the latter.

10.What is the achievement you take the most pride in?
While I take pride in everyone of my achievements, one stands out. When I was coach for the Kerala University basketball team, we won the All India Trophy 8 times.
